Server rules

Below is a summary of rules you need to follow if you want to have an account on this server of Mastodon:

  1. Don't be a dick.
  2. If you must be a dick, punch up not down
  3. Do use Content Warnings and try to add descriptive text to all posted images.
  4. Think before you post federated content.

You can read more on those rules below.

The Dreamer's Guild Redux

It feels a bit odd to be using this name after such a long hiatus. I admit, I was a bit leery to use the name as the first iteration (nearly 20 years ago, now) ended. The few remnants of the Dreamer's Guild who I remain in contact with felt this was an appropriate use of the domain, though, so here we are.

The Dreamer's Guild is really just a collection of friends who managed to stay friends long enough to form a community. There is no real magic to it beyond that. Some have been here since the beginning. Others joined along the way. If you think you'd be a good fit, drop us a note. We're always looking for like-minded folks to help us grow and evolve, but we're old enough now to be picky. I would argue that "Dreamer's" is a bit of a misnomer - as most of us prize moving from dream to action. In that sense, we are dreamers who do and our interests and curiosities remain vast.

We're geeky - to be sure - but far more than the sum of those interests, alone.

Code of Conduct

I will make this easy - if you are on this server, you are here by invitation. That invitation can be revoked at any time for any reason. I look at the Dreamers Guild as a community, and that community has specific standards. If you violate those standards, don't expect to be invited back.

With that in mind, here is a basic list of our community standards (as seen above).

  • Don't be a dick.
  • If you must be a dick, punch up not down.
    • Basically, any post that contributes further harm to marginalized identities will be removed and could lead to your removal from the community.
    • We do value education over retribution - but only if there is a genuine desire to learn and grow followed by actual growth and change.

  • This is a federated site and we want to be respectful of our broader content communities.
    • Do use Content Warnings try to add descriptive text to all posted images.
    • Violating this may not get you kicked, but it is a best practice we want to encourage.
    • Think before you post federated content. We use the Hometown variant codebase which allows the posting of non-federated content. This allows you to share things with the local community without it being shared beyond. Keep this in mind when you think about where you are posting.

That should be enough to get us going. We are small community and if you are part of us, it probably means you know all of the above anyway. It is good to have it listed, though.
